2012 Buckeye Livestock Judging Camp. The Ohio State University Department of Animal Sciences and OSU Extension will be hosting 2 Livestock Judging camps in June. The Beginner Camp will be June 18-20, and the Senior Camp will be June 25-27. The first day registration will begin at 8:00am, with each camp starting at 9:00am. 2012 Ohio State Fair Steer/Market Heifer Nose Print Card Information
Nose prints will be the only form of identification required by Ohio State Fair officials for 4-H and FFA steers and/or market heifers that plan to be entered in the 2012 Ohio State Fair. One or two legible nose print cards per animal must be sent to Stacey French, Ohio State Fair, 717 East 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211 postmarked by January 17, 2012. They will be reviewed for legibility by the officials at the State Fair office. If they are not clear and legible, Stacey will be in touch with you for a re-print.
Steer nose print cards can be ordered free of charge through Ohio State University Extension Publications eStore online at:http://estore.osu-extension.org/. The link to the page showing the actual product is: http://estore.osu-extension.org/showproducts.cfm?Step=1&FullCat=226
This will replace the electronic ID tags that were used in 2011.

Ohio State 4-H Livestock Skillathon Team
The State 4-H Livestock Skillathon Team provides learning laboratory opportunities for youth which will enhance their knowledge of the beef, sheep, swine, and goat industries and issues facing these industries, all within a fun setting.
The Skillathon Team provides experiential learning opportunities that develop critical thinking and problem solving skills and tests one’s ability to apply information. Also, the team provides opportunities that develop and recognize teamwork. Moreover, the team encourages youth to expand their knowledge of the livestock industry and become proficient in livestock management practices and quality assurance.
Additionally, the team serves as an award activity and trip for youth who have achieved superior levels of performance in state competition. Therefore, the team stimulates their learning processes, interest, and enthusiasm of the livestock industries.
2011 Ohio State 4-H Livestock Skillathon Team Information
Applications are now being accepted for the 2011 Ohio State 4-H Livestock Skillathon Team. APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 5:00pm, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6. Please click on the links below to access the letter inviting potential Skillathon team members and the Skillathon Team application. The letter includes details as to what is expected of interested youth. Applications may be submitted either electronically, through the US Postal Service, or faxed. Please follow the submission instructions in the letter. Letters submitted electronically must be typed.

Livestock Judging
The Ohio 4-H Livestock Judging Team is selected from the Ohio State Fair Livestock Judging Contest (application and information found in our calendar of events). The top 3 teams at the contest are eligible to participate. The selected teams will compete at several different national contests including the top team competiting at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. Other trips include the Keystone International, National Western, Kansas City Royal, and other great contests!
